Emergency Preparedness: 5 Things Newbies Should Do BEFORE a Disaster Strikes! (link)

If you’re new to getting prepared then this article is a good place to start. It discusses the need to be aware of what disasters might be headed your way, proactively securing your home, get off-grid power, stock up on the basic needs, and develop an evacuation plan… all very good steps to take. Here’s the first part of the post:

“On my way to work this week they had a commercial on the radio reminding everyone that hurricane season is approaching and to help the recent transplants get prepared. My mind immediately went back to 5 years ago when we were recent transplants to Houston and I sure wished someone had helped us out. We didn’t have a clue what to do, and even worse, we didn’t even realize we were about to get hit by a massive hurricane. Between unpacking boxes and just giving birth, the last thing on my mind was prepping for a disaster. Well… it hit us, and it hit hard. I don’t want you to have to learn the hard way like we did, so I put 5 things you should GET-UP & DO BEFORE a disaster strikes!”
