When I finally decided to take this site seriously over a year ago, I didn’t recall seeing any other survival website that honestly attempted to link to the best content of other websites, including YouTube videos day in and day out. So, I decided to take on that role and share what I found interesting each and every day. And, in large part, I’m glad I did because people seemed to like it and I learn a lot myself regardless.
That said, these days it seems like there a so many survival websites doing the exact same thing as what I do here and I’m

First, I wanted to thank those of you who chose to review this site on Alexa.com recently (if you missed it and perhaps interested in doing so I created a step by step tutorial on how to do so here). I haven’t any idea if it will help rankings or not but it’s always worth a try and maybe a bit of fun for you too.
Second, several days ago I asked if you would be interested in a guest post writing contest. While there were some concerns and a flat

Recently, I had an advertiser suggest I start a guest post contest–which was something I had considered in the past–so I figured I would ask you if this were something you would be interested in. As I assume I could scrounge up a few more sponsors to provide prizes I would be happy to do so if you, the readers, want to try it. The contest would be similar to other sites that already run awesome contests (e.g., ModernSurvivalOnline.com and TheSurvivalistBlog.net) but understand that the prize packages probably wouldn’t be as extensive… but it could still be fun.

I’m going to ask for a small bit of help today. Gaye at BackdoorSurvival.com mentioned that it might be a good idea to get some reviews posted about my site (and for her site as well) on Alexa.com in order to help website rankings and what not. I thought, “hey, great idea!” and figured I would ask you for a moment of your time to help me…
If you’re so willing it’s rather easy to write a review. Just navigate to my Alexa listing, click on the ”Reviews” tab (which is below

We’re fortunate here at reThinkSurvival.com to be joined by a new sponsor, Mayflower Trading Company, which happens to be owned and operated by Pam who is the lady that often corrects me when I’m wrong about my egg storage experiments.
The sell quite a bit of emergency preparedness products, starting with long term food storage–even a few organic food storage products, which my wife would LOVE–as well as freeze-dried and dehydrated #10 cans of many fruits and veggies you should be storing, and

First, I would like to thank nearly all of you for your comments on my article Why I Don’t Worry About An Assault Weapons Ban yesterday… I knew you were out there! I say “nearly all” because some people have no ability to be tactful or are plainly rude. Granted, preppers are an opinionated bunch and if there’s ever a hot-button topic, it’s “assault” rifles.
Some pointed out very good reasons why I’m completely wrong and, though I still stand by the majority of what

I was looking through some archived posts the other day and realized that the one year anniversary of me decided to really make something of this blog/website was one year ago today. It’s felt like both a blessing and a bit of a curse as I certainly enjoy it but, well… it’s still a lot of work! FYI, here’s the original “daily youtube” post on DIY Solar Lightings Using a Soda Bottle that started it all. Enjoy.
- This morning I started working on stream-lining the front page. In particular, I removed the “real time hazard monitoring” thumbnails that showed at the top of every page. I did so because I sometimes found that the thumbnails didn’t load correctly and they’re hard to see anyway. Plus it’s just more “stuff” trying to load that isn’t critical. You can still view the hazard monitoring page and related images using the appropriate links.
- I’ve also decided to show excerpts of posts rather than full posts on the homepage, again in order to cut down on load
