Advantage of Rope and Pulleys for Vehicle Recovery

[We're going back to school today for a nice tutorial on how to use a rope and pulley system to move heavy objects such as for vehicle recovery or to move felled trees. This could come in quite handy to know if you're on your own and find yourself in stranded and unable to get outside help. While it's nice to know how to use ropes and pulleys for this idea, perhaps a nice Maasdam Pow'R Pull come-a-long is a more compact option for stowing in a vehicle. Regardless, it is certainly a good idea to keep a wide assortment of ropes and associated pulleys just in case.]
