Storing Insulin and Other Perishable Drugs in SHTF
[In this video, ThePatriotNurse talks about burying nalgene bottles 4-5 feet deep but doesn't specify why. I would say that not only is this difficult to do but not entirely necessary depending on where you live. What you're trying to do is to bury the bottles below the frost line in order to keep your medications from freezing and, in so doing, regulate the temperature using the fairly stable crust temperature of around the mid to upper 50's. A google image search for "frost line map" should help. Of course, even in places where the frost line is very shallow I would still suggest you bury your meds at least 2 feet deep in order to avoid too much surface heat.]
