Sometimes it’s useful to rehash archive posts, even from other blogs. This Chemical and Material Storage Hazards and Precautions post from TheSurvivalistBlog.net fits the bill nicely.
The first half of the post makes me feel like I was sitting in science class again as it explains a few basics about the topics discussed, including ”acids, bases (caustics), oxidizers, inert gases, combustibles, reactive metals, toxics and flammable materials”.
The second half of the article discusses appropriate safety precautions, personal protective equipment, and appropriate reactions to various hazmat problems. It was worth the re-read and I suggest you read it as well.
