A few days ago I referenced a homeowners guide to spiders, which got me to looking for something similar for my home state when I came across this website: http://www.insectidentification.org/. I fiddled with it for a while and became hooked!
The front page has a search box that allows you to input a few defining characteristics of the bug in question (colors, legs) as well as the state (any of the lower 48 states) and it lists the possibilities along with a brief description and pictures. Since I’m generally bug-illiterate I thought this was a cool idea and will be adding it to my Guide to the Net references.

I would much rather identify snakes than bugs but still a cool site.
