FoodStorageAndSurvival.com put up a nice article last week on Water Pasteurization and the WAPI, which discusses what WAPI is and why it would be useful for you. The short answer is that it tells you when water has been heated sufficiently to be safe to consume thereby significantly reducing fuel needs.
