Review of Dr. Bones Trauma Plus Module With Medic Bag

I’ve been considering purchasing this medic bag for a while now, in large part, because it was designed by the wonderful folks who started DoomAndBloom.net. If you’re unaware, Joe and Amy happen to be among my all-time favorite preparedness bloggers and I couldn’t recommend their website more highly. In fact, I recently reviewed their Survival Medicine Handbook that I absolutely enjoyed.

To be honest, I’ve put off purchasing this bag because (from an untrained eye like mine) the bag seems quite expensive. That’s why I was glad to see it reviewed by another medical professional, SkinnyMedic on YouTube.

As with most any pre-made kit, you could probably create the kit for a bit less money if you had the time and experience to do so. That said, it would be difficult to correctly duplicate all of the medical supplies that are already contained within, especially since there are plenty of medically-unique items (e.g., hemostat, trauma dressings). Remember, this bag is designed for the “when no help is coming” situation. The best part is that it’s all conveniently packaged into a seemingly durable bag AND well organized.

Again, this is a review by SkinnyMedic, not me. I don’t have personal experience with it but I have to believe that you cannot go wrong with purchasing this bag because I know who made it. If you would like to purchase it, you may do so here at their website.

Medical kits of any kind are good to have …..but ones like that are very expensive . Im not a medic , but you read whats in some of these things and it makes you wonder just how needed they really are . If you go to med supply stores on ebay and see what they are charging per item ( ( ebay is usually bulk , but it gives you an idea of price per item divided ) Then it might be worth your time to find and ask a person with medical experience if some of the contents are fluff or actually needed . Some pre made med kits I question .

    • No doubt that I firmly believe most premade kits are not worth the cost considering that you can usually put together something much more useful for less money if you take the time and effort. That said, something like a medical kit might be the rare expection because of the unique medical tools that can be included. Again, if you want to spend the time researching for deals then you could probably do better on your own. But if there’s any medical resource that I trust to build me a good kit it’s Dr. Alton and his wife (the people that designed this kit).

Med kits are a hard one for preppers because most of us dont have the know how , so we kinda have to guess . My problem is that even if I did have something exotic , I wouldn’t know what to do with it .
