I’ve been slacking lately with my sun oven posts, probably due to the changing of seasons. Anyway, I thought I would search for some descent recipes online (that we’re too complicated too) and found this one for pork and beans:
- 1 can Campbell’s pork and beans
- 2 tablespoons ketchup
- 1 teaspoon dried onion
- 1 teaspoon dried mustard
- ¼ cup maple flavored syrup
- 1 slice bacon, cut into pieces and placed on top
Bake in preheated SUN OVEN® at 325-340º for about one hour. Leave in oven at 200º until dinner is served. These are really delicious and go well with any of the meat dishes.
This recipe is obviously very easy to put together. According to the website where I found it at, they usually double the ingredients; I can see why because this was really just a meal for one person… me!
And, honestly, it was pretty darn good expect that I would have used about half of the dry mustard called for because it gave it too much of a “kick” for me.

Looks good. I love pork and beans and have tried everything under the sun to make them better. Never added mustard, though.
