Vally Food Storage – White Bean and Lime Chili

I had an opportunity to review a food storage meal, White Bean and Lime Chili from ValleyFoodStorage.com, as it was sent to me for review. One thing I like, believe it or not, is that the food doesn’t come in a fancy package. It’s just a mylar bag and sticker:

To me this means the money is being spent elsewhere (hopefully on food quality) and not on fancy packaging. That said, I do also like that this meal contains no MSG, no trans fats, no oils, and my wife would approve that they use sea salt. 😉

As with any other camping/hiking meal all you need to do is to bring water to a boil (between 2 – 2 1/4 cups) and let simmer for between 15-20 minutes:

I opted to use two cups of water so that the meal would be thicker and I can honestly say it didn’t disappoint me (I prefer my soups and chili’s rather thick like chili should be):

While I did get a rather full bowl of White Bean and Lime Chili I can’t say that it was two servings worth, at least, not enough for two adults to have a full meal. That’s ok. I wasn’t expecting anything but a meal for one person.

As for the taste: it was quite GOOD! And at a price of $6.95 for a single packet it’s on par with prices for camping meals I’ve seen elsewhere (shipping excluded).

With a sample size of a single meal, ValleyFoodStorage.com may be a vendor to check out if you’re interested in such meals.
