Overlooked Bug Out Bag Item? (video)

JJ points out that you should include a [easyazon_link identifier=”B00Q5HQX4Y” locale=”US” tag=”rethinksurviv-20″]Next Generation 4 Bay USB Battery Charger[/easyazon_link] in your bug out bag. Personally, this isn’t something I would have bothered with in a bug out bag but if you’re going to include a [easyazon_link identifier=”B00E7Z06LC” locale=”US” tag=”rethinksurviv-20″]SunJack Portable Solar Charger[/easyazon_link] like he does then you may as well toss in an alkaline battery charger too. The neat thing about this particular battery charger is that it is DC-compatible so you won’t need an inverter to run it, plus it’s relatively small, and you can even  charge different types of batteries at the same time which is a feature some alkaline chargers won’t allow…

38 Item Sardine Can Survival Kit (video)

Although you can certainly do better putting together your own pocket survival kit (and probably save a few bucks too), the [easyazon_link identifier=”B001B10X72″ locale=”US” tag=”rethinksurviv-20″]Coghlan’s Survival Kit In A Can[/easyazon_link] is an interesting idea. I can say that there are several items I wouldn’t be interested in (such as the bubble gum, tea bag, and nails). In addition, I don’t particularly like the fact that once opened it can’t be sealed again but for the price and if you’re looking for something to toss in a small survival kit then this could be an option but I would strongly encourage you to try to put together your own kit even if in nothing more than an Altoids tin…

ROBOCOPP Grenade Personal Alarm (video)

The [easyazon_link identifier=”B010U2XD60″ locale=”US” tag=”rethinksurviv-20″]Robocopp Grenade[/easyazon_link] offers an interesting way to get attention with a 120 db siren and at less than an ounce it’s easy to take with you. The video also suggests a few additional “outside the box” ideas for use. FYI, he mentions a $5 discount to buy from their website (https://www.robocopp.com/store/p2/ROBOCOPP_Grenade.html) but it’s actually [easyazon_link identifier=”B010U2XD60″ locale=”US” tag=”rethinksurviv-20″]cheaper on Amazon[/easyazon_link]…

Cleanliness vs. Sterility in Survival (video)

Dr. Alton discusses the differences between cleanliness and sterility, what it means for survival (you might be surprised), and how to go about ensuring sterility with their instruments (hint: a [easyazon_link keywords=”pressure cooker” locale=”US” tag=”rethinksurviv-20″]pressure cooker[/easyazon_link] is good to have for this)…

How to Purify 2000 Liters With Polar Pure (video)

Years ago I had a bottle of [easyazon_link identifier=”B0055E42NM” locale=”US” tag=”rethinksurviv-20″]Polar Pure[/easyazon_link] and used it here and there but the bottle broke (or it leaked… can’t really remember now) and so I tossed it out. I can say that it’s a good option for bug out bags or camping trips like he suggests and may be a much better option than something like [easyazon_link identifier=”B0009I3T3S” locale=”US” tag=”rethinksurviv-20″]Potable Aqua[/easyazon_link] since a bottle of Polar Pure will last for many years so long as there are iodine crystals still inside…

7 Things You SHOULD Barter With During SHTF (video)

He makes some good points in the first minute and a half–and near the end–about what NOT to barter with and why (here’s a previous video of his discussing what not to barter with).

Personally, I’m not a fan of planning to barter for a variety of reasons but if that’s something you really feel you must plan for then these suggestions may be ones to consider, including comfort beverages (such as coffee), toilet paper, leisure items (like a deck of cards), and more.

On second thought, I’d keep the toilet paper. 🙂 Here’s the video…

Why Fish Antibiotics Are Logical For Survival (video)

Dr. Alton (of DoomAndBloom.net) uses some good old fashioned logic sprinkled with some doctor know-how as to why fish antibiotics are–in most cases–no different than human antibiotics. Near the end he also points out that regulations may be coming soon to make it more difficult to purchase fish and bird antibiotics…
