7 Cybersecurity Tips Nobody Tells You

Personally, I see preparedness as more than just ensuring my family and I survive a natural disaster. It’s really about doing all the things you can do, big and small, to keep bad things from happening to you. This certainly includes preparing for disasters, but it also means considering home security, your actions when out and about (to not look like an easy target), and daily concerns, like computer hacks.

Regrettably, our vulnerability to cybercrimes increases daily. The bad guys are always up to something new, which means we need to do everything we can to keep ourselves protected, including our online activity. Not only does the video below explain what you need to do but why, which is important so you’ll take action. He discusses:

  • why you should setup a secret email address for your financials
  • why tap to pay using your phone is much better than pulling out your credit card (I didn’t know this tip and I think I might change my habits as a result)
  • creating unique usernames for individual websites
  • proactively placing a credit freeze (I long considered this, but always figured it was a hassle … maybe not)
  • what to use instead of public WIFI
  • why you should turn off WIFI and Bluetooth whenever you leave your home (and how to make it automatic)
  • how to protect against phone theft (because thieves know all of your data is accessible via our phones)

The separate bank and financial email and the tap to pay on my phone were both very interesting. Thank you!
