5 Minute Blueprint Recommendations

Here are my recommendations:

NOAA Weather Radio (The Midland WR-400 is the best budget option and at least one or two generations improved upon my radio.)

Katadyn Gravity Water Filter or try a lesser expensive alternative (Beware that any off-brand products may look good, but when it comes to your life, it’s usually best not to save a few dollars.)

Big Berkey Water Filter System (Beware cheaper alternatives because their filters are likely not as good as the black Berkey filters; I’ve tried in the past and have been disappointed.)

The Survival Medicine Handbook, 4th ed. and/or The Preppers Medical Handbook (Both books are good; I suggest both.)

Israeli Compression Bandages (Be sure to watch videos on how to use them properly.)

CAT Tourniquet (Watch videos on use.)

Celox Gauze (Watch videos on use.)

Water Jel Burn Dressing (Watch videos on use.)

Spenco Second Skin (You can probably get this locally.)

Silverdene Ointment (Watch videos on use.)

SAM Splints (You can get this variety pack or search on Amazon on your own.)

Medical Tape (Just buy this at Walmart.)

Maglite Flashlight, 3 D-Cells (There are many other flashlights available, often which use AA batteries and some that are rechargeable, but I would stick with battery-operated for preparedness. I own a few of these Energizer AA flashlights and the work well enough for the price.)

FRS Radios (Try to get something that runs on batteries, usually AAA batteries, so it doesn’t have to plug into a wall outlet.)

1500-watt Inverter (I used to recommend an 800-watt inverter, but that’s just not powerful enough any longer; maybe even consider a 2000-watt inverter, but nothing larger since that would be overkill for most all small appliances.)

Portable Power Bank (There are so many options and prices/power changes so often that I can’t recommend a specific brand. Get something at least 10,000mAh or up to 40,000mAh if you don’t intend on carrying as part of your EDC. Remember, however, that their ratings are overinflated.)

Single Burner Propane Stove (These are hard to beat when it comes to boiling water or heating up cans of food.)

LED Camping Lanterns (These are bright, but run on D-cells; this Streamlight is a wonderful alternative, and runs on AA batteries.)

Mr. Buddy Propane Heater (There are other variants, and if you want to use larger, 5-gallon tanks, then you’ll need a longer hose.)

Battery-Powered Fan (May be small, but worth it when there’s no air-conditioning; it’s becoming difficult to find fans like this that are not rechargeable.)

Jumpstarter Power Pack (Again, there are many options and price-points, and they change all the time.)

Fix-A-Flat Tire Repair (Remember that this is a last-ditch effort and you will need to have the tire replaced after use; just purchase locally.)

Olight Keychain Flashlight (This little flashlight is wonderful; get one for each keychain.)

Keychain Whistles (Again, there are many options, but these will suffice.)

Preppers Home Defense Book (It’s a start.)
