I keep hearing about Trump’s coming tariff wars (and some concern about weather) causing quite a few useful items and grocery store supplies to be either very expensive or difficult to acquire. The problem is that these can be very broad categories, so I include the list and some examples below each video.
- Imported food: bananas, avocado, coffee, cocoa, sugar, and tropical fruit
- Furniture and home goods: desk, couch, chair, bed
- Lumber (from Canada)
- Pharmaceuticals
- Large batteries, like solar backup batteries
- Technology products: television, smartphone, gaming consoles, and much more
- Machinery and vehicles: not just the completed machinery, but repair parts
- Plastics: so many items rely on plastics, especially consumer goods containers
- Tires for vehicles
- Other: clothing, shoes, boots, and much more
- Grocery store items: flour, toilet paper, can fruits, cooking fuel, cooking oil, pasta, coffee
- Water filtration systems
Concluding Thoughts
I’d say the takeaway here is to stock up on anything you can’t do without, such as medications, over-the-counter pills, and specific foods that we import heavily. It can’t hurt to stock up on supplies that you wouldn’t want to do without, like cleaners and hygiene items, which often come in plastic bottles, too. After all, you never know what you’ll need in the future no matter what happens to the price. Finally, if you know you’re going to need new tires for your vehicle or plan on building a shed from scratch, consider making those larger purchases sooner rather than later.
Ultimately, nobody knows what the future holds, what prices will be, or even whether the items you’ll need and want will be available. Do what preppers do best: plan for the future!
