The DIY MRE System You’ll Actually Use

I almost always prefer a DIY approach to survivalism, partly because I enjoy “doing things” but I also like to save money because, let’s face it, survival gear is expensive! But I also like the fact that I can tailor my DIY approaches to fit my preferences and needs. And the following video is no different. In it, he shows precisely how to create a repeatable DIY approach to MREs that you’ll actually use.

The MREs include breakfast, lunch, and dinner. You find plenty to choose from, such as oatmeal, tuna packets, protein bars, beef sticks, flavored rice packets, and more. He demos his cooking method, explains why electrolyte packets should be added, and reminds you that morale is equally important to calories, which is why hot chocolate and coffee packets are included too.

Honestly, his DIY MREs are more involved than mine are, but we generally agree: make your own MREs to save money, make them your own by tailoring to your preferences, and build confidence by using them. Enjoy!
