A Look Back at Several Past Reviews (were they worthwhile purchases?)

I thought I would do something a bit different today and look back at some of the previous reviews I’ve done now that I’ve had some more experience and exposure to these products and let you know whether they’re still worthwhile purchases or not (links point back to the original reviews)…

• Whistler 800 watt inverter – since actually writing the review (not since posting it) I had the opportunity to fiddle with it a bit more and after realizing I simply cannot start my car while using the inverter–still not sure why–I find this inverter works flawlessly. I’ve used everything from my laptop to a small television and even briefly ran my dehydrator, it all seemed to be powered just fine. Again, the entire purpose in this inverter was to run a refrigerator but it’s nice to know other things will work too.
• SafeGuard Stealth Concealable Brand Vest Body Armor – I’ve only bothered to wear the vest two more times since the original review (both all day events) and I’m still super happy with it. In fact, I’m considering ordering a Level 3A vest but don’t quite have the funds for that purchase. 😉
• O2 Cool Portable Fan – I pulled this fan out a while back when we still had the AC off and so long as I was fairly close to it (within a few feet) I felt a real nice breeze that kept me cool. Get several feet away and you won’t feel much, but in defense of the fan you won’t feel much of a breeze several feet away from any small desktop fan. Regardless, for a while I had it plugged into my small solar system (via an inverter) and it worked as I had hoped. Granted, I didn’t take any voltage measurements to see how much power draw the fan consumed but I doubt it was too much.
• Mr. Buddy MH9BX 4-9K BTU Indoor-Safe Portable Radiant Heater –
• Tenergy Universal Smart Battery Charger – Ever since I purchased it I’ve switched to using this charger exclusively. That said, I’ll be honest, this charger is driving me nuts… not because it doesn’t work well but mostly because it’s so picky about batteries needing to be the exact same size (in mAh). This isn’t a problem if you’re using the same batteries all the time (such as Eneloops) but I have a variety of rechargeable batteries and they’re often mixed and matched which makes keeping all of my batteries fully charged tough. Regardless, it is a versatile charger in that it can charge many sizes of batteries (such as C, D, and 9-volts) and even get power directly from a vehicle’s auxiliary socket.
• Thermos Stainless King Food Jar – The more I experiment with thermos cooking the more thrilled I am with the concept. In fact, I even purchased an additional food jar because I like it so much.
• Energizer 7 LED Headlamp – While I don’t seem to use my headlamp as much as I used to, I still find occasion to use one and find this particular one to be easy to use (if you don’t mind pressing buttons to change settings) and mostly comfortable to wear. The best part is that it runs on AAA batteries which makes it more powerful than most other headlamps and easy to recharge.
• Razorpit – Though I still use it to extend the life of my razors (now more than ever because razor prices have skyrocketed), I’m sad to report that eventually the wear guide on the razors tend to disintegrate over time so I can’t get as much out of this Razorpit as I had hoped. Regardless, it serves the purpose, however, I would suspect you could find something that could do the same thing without spending any money; I’ve heard that an old pair of blue jeans material might work well but have never tried it.

Overall, I would say I’m fairly pleased with all of the aforementioned products, how they perform, cost, and so on.
