DIY Fireproofing Material

I’d heard about similar DIY fireproof “inventions” elsewhere but I’ve never seen anyone try to make one before, especially something so easy. Made from nothing more than flour, baking soda, corn starch, powdered sugar, and water, it’s quite an interesting idea. Substituting borax for baking soda appears to have some additional benefits, including being mold -resistant and a bug deterrent, which he discusses in the video.

Now, while I’m not quite confident in myself enough to hold a torch to my hand like he does, I am intrigued at the possibilities. Unfortunately, he never shows himself making the material in this particular video, though he does provide a link to a previous video which does show him mixing and molding a different set of ingredients together which was his first attempt at making the DIY fireproofing material.

Of course, don’t do anything dumb just because you’ve now watched someone else do so. Be smart, be safe, and be VERY careful with making and using DIY ideas like this… you could get yourself hurt very easily!

great Video! I live in a high fire prone area and have been looking for a heat resistant coating for my buildings.
