DIY Reflective Heater

Here’s a neat way to make your own DIY heater out of vegetable cans by also using items I’d never considered, such as a 100% carbon felt to act as a wick and stainless steel mesh to act as the mantle.

Overall, I like the design a lot, though I think the build could be a tad safer. For example, make it so that the heater core can’t fall out if you move it. I’d also like to know how to “turn the stove off” but it appears you simply have to let the fuel burn out, which isn’t ideal.

Did I miss instructions regarding placement of the wick? How and where to place the wick is not obvious to me.

I prefer simple, but also a solid, stable and durable build.

We can always increase efficiency with extra layers or by using thicker metal or wrapping a stove with insulation or reflective materials.
