Flexible Solar Panels Better Than Rigid?

I saw the following video below and though there’s no way it’s possible that flexible panels outperform rigid panels, all things considered. Turns out I was right, but not because of massive performance differences. While both Eco-Worth panels performed nearly identically in their head-to-head test on a dollars per watt comparison (see data near the end of the video) the biggest differences are longevity and price points.

First, the flexible solar panels are not nearly as durable as the rigid ones; this should be obvious, but if you want something that’s going to hold up, the rigid panels are the way to go. Second, and perhaps equally important, is the cost. As of this writing, the flexible panels run $161.44 on Amazon whereas the rigid panels are $58.99 due to a limited time deal offer but still only $79.99 regular price. That’s a huge difference!

My advice: if you’re wanting solar panels for emergency preparedness purposes around the house, go with the rigid panels all day long; if you want something more lightweight and flexible and easily transported, such as for a bug out by vehicle, then consider the flexible panels. Either way, have something around and the ability to run gear when the power goes out.

Here’s the comparison video…
