I Try to Avoid Conspiracy Theories, But…

My garden has been horrible this year. I mean, bad! Granted, we didn’t exactly follow the Mittleider Gardening Method like I thought we would, and by that I mean we went right back to what we normally do, lol. But it’s worse than even I would’ve expected. Our greens were eaten by bugs almost instantly. The squash, although we planted late, didn’t take off. The potatoes and carrots look pathetic. The green beans were horribly stringy. About the only part of the garden that went well enough were the tomatoes, but they’re currently rotting on the vine because nobody wants to wade through the weeds.

But even despite our best efforts to completely ignore the vegetable garden, I’m not the only one who’s been complaining this year. Many people I’ve talked to have said their gardens have been underperforming, too. I didn’t think much of it until…my ears perked up when I saw this lady talking about the same problem as well (see video below). Could there be something going on worldwide that’s causing this problem many of us are experiencing?

It’s really only the first few minutes of the video that discuss her concerns about the garden, especially after a rain, but the comments section of her video keep the conspiracies going! Let me know your thoughts, especially if you’re experiencing similar problems so that I can blame our lackluster garden performance on something other than me. 🙂

Why would we expect to be blessed?

But if you will not obey the voice of the Lord your God or be careful to do all his commandments and his statutes that I command you today, then all these curses shall come upon you and overtake you. Cursed shall you be in the city, and cursed shall you be in the field. Cursed shall be your basket and your kneading bowl. Cursed shall be the fruit of your womb and the fruit of your ground, the increase of your herds and the young of your flock. (Deuteronomy 28:15-18, ESV)
