Note that this is a review: if you’re looking for the Aquaponics 4 You website then please lick here.
Aquapoincs, I’m sure you’ve heard of it, but do you know what it is? Put simply, aquaponics is a symbiotic marriage of hydroponics and aquaculture (fish raising). More importantly, do you know why you should pay attention? Well, I’ll answer that in a moment, but I can say that I wasn’t really paying attention to aquaponics until recently… and now I’m getting excited!
Why?
Because I finally feel like I have something within my grasp that can truly make me more “food independent” so-to-speak. Sure, I’ve got some food storage, my pantry and fridge are relatively full, and I hobby garden, but most of these are finite (sort of) and not always the best use of my limited space, time, and resources… you know, money.
With this in mind, a month or so ago I started searching the Net for information on Aquaponics (via a healthy Google search), watched a handful of YouTube videos on the topics, and even briefly considered purchasing a book or two on aquaponics (which I might still do), all of which was helpful but I like to have what I want IMMEDIATELY and, if I’m going to spend the money, I want MORE than just a single book.
I wanted a course, something that’s going to teach me what I need to know but not bore me to death either. Fortunately, it didn’t take long for me to find this course…
The main book detailing aquaponics shouldn’t be considered a tome but, rather, a concise manual on all things aquapoincs. In fact, while reading it I sort of felt like I jumped right into the middle of a story that I wouldn’t have honestly understood had I not already spent some time researching the subject beforehand.
This fact is both a weakness and a strength of the Aquaponics 4 You course because if you don’t have a good clue as to what aquaponics is as well as why you would want to do it then you might feel a bit lost. That’s easily remedied with a bit of Net surfing so don’t let this be a detraction. Instead, consider it a strength in that when you’re ready to get your aquapoincs system going then this course will tell you exactly what you need to know without wasting your precious time. 🙂
As for the book it discusses everything I expected, including the chemistry involved, types of fish you might choose, plants, how to build the system, steps to getting started, a materials list, and plenty more. In fact, there are plenty of diagrams and illustrations included which were certainly helpful to see.

Of course, if a picture is “worth a thousand words” a video is worth much more. This particular course includes a video that walks you through building a basic aquaponics system which was good to watch but it would have been nice if the video also showed a working system. Perhaps they can add that later but no big deal either way.
Anyway, the course also includes a handful of additional references for download, including:
- Organic Gardening for Beginners
- Herbs for Health and Home
- A Guide to Flower Gardening
- Worm Farming – The World’s Best Compost
- Guide to Organic Cooking
- Eating Healthy
To be honest, I didn’t spend much time reviewing the additional materials as I was solely interested in the aquapoincs information but it never hurts to have these additional references around. Obviously, they are complimentary to aquaponics–at least the gardening materials are… not quite sure about the herbs and cooking/eating materials.
Now, the question is simply whether or not the Aquaponics 4 You course can help you get a functioning aquaponics system together faster and for less? Yes, it sure can do just that! Check it out if you have any interest in food self-sufficiency…
