I’ve watched and listened to so much content about the tariffs in recent weeks that I no longer know what to believe. My initial reaction was that this is going to make some of the stuff we need, like power generating equipment and medications, more expensive because almost all of it is manufactured overseas. I know some folks say manufacturers and wholesalers are going to largely eat the costs, and others say there will be currency manipulation to force our prices lower, but only time will tell.
But then I hear arguments that the tariffs will make other items, like some food products and high-end technology, cheaper because they’re manufactured in the United States. The reasoning is because producers can no longer export at a profit, so they dump their goods domestically, which results in deflationary prices. Again, only time will tell.
What the real plan is, I couldn’t say. Will this work out for the betterment of the country? Maybe. But I’m afraid there will be a lot of pain for most of us, and I’m afraid it’s largely self-inflicted. I’m also fearful that it will be years for us to reap the rewards, if there are any, of the tariff wars. What does the country look like during that period? Higher prices? Lower prices? Does the stock market crash into oblivion?
I can’t say I much care any longer. I’m going to keep doing what I’m doing with regards to my preparedness, and I recommend you do as well.
Ultimately, I will say that I’m not smart enough to understand precisely how all of this will work out because it’s just not in my wheelhouse. I don’t understand the games these people play because they’re all power moves, and I’m just not that kind of person. I like to play fair. I’m not trying to squeeze out every last dime from a transaction. And I don’t hard sell my readers on anything. You do what works for you. But you can’t live with your head in the sand, either. We prepare ourselves for a reason … and I believe that reason is because we understand hard times come when it’s least expected, when it’s least needed, and when we’re least prepared.
But rather than telling you what I see coming, I watched the following video recently and figured I couldn’t have explained what’s coming better myself. We may both be wrong or right about what’s coming, or more likely some combination thereof, but we both see the need to continue to prepare because it’s the only way we stay ahead of the ignorant sheeple…
