The video below was from last week, but it’s a good reminder about how the power grid is only getting worse. Although I’ve long warned about inflation and rising gold and silver prices as something we should be preparing for, the power grid infrastructure (and growing demand) is an increasing concern too.
Because the truth is that more people are becoming more reliant on electricity for everything, heating and cooling chief among them. Add in the demands of data centers, which he pinpoints as the primary problem (and I have as well), to power AI and who knows what else, and a grid that is already under stress is in danger of outright collapse when we have nationwide problems like winter storm Fern strike.
As a prepper, it’s your job to figure out how you’re going to deal with that problem. For us, it’s a woodstove, lots of blankets, and solar/inverters for crucial items. And I’m strongly considering asking my electrician to implement this HVAC “hack” to power our home heating system because it runs on natural gas, but I just haven’t done it yet.
The writing is on the wall: you must be reliant on yourself. Because when rolling brownouts are implemented, it doesn’t matter if you live in an apartment or a mansion, no power means almost nothing works. And when blackouts occur because of EMPs, solar flares, or a catastrophic infrastructure failure due to an aging power grid, they’ll affect all of us equally. Please continue to prepare yourself because you won’t be able to do much, if anything, about it after the fact.
