THRIVE Express Creamy Chicken Noodle Soup: Supper Sundays

Recently my kids had some friends over and we didn’t feel like making some huge meal. Neither did we want them to eat a bunch of chips or other less-than-nutritious meals and so we decided to make some THRIVE Creamy Chicken Noodle Soup from their Express line of products:

Fortunately, these meals are super easy to make. Just boil water (one package needs 3.25 cups), add the contents and return to a boil, reduce heat to simmer and cook uncovered for 10 minutes. Remove from heat and let stand five minutes. You can have a tasty meal ready in about 15-20 minutes. 🙂

Since we had four starving young boys we choose to make two packages. If you’re interested in the backside and labels, here you go:

As you might be able to tell from the labels, it’s relatively low in sodium unlike some other freeze-dried foods. I also figured you might want to see what it looks like before being cooked and so I put some in a bowl:

Yeah, right… not very appetizing dry. 😉 Now, here’s the finished product:

The photo above doesn’t do the creamy chicken soup justice as it was quite tasty. I wound up having two full bowls and all the kids ate theirs, even my picky eaters who actually wanted more! I was a bit surprised since the oldest is the type of child who will complain if I cook scrambled eggs with olive oil instead of butter which I made the mistake of telling him once… only once.

Anyway, it was a hit and easy to make! Of course, they’re great for backpacking and bug out but also in the kitchen when you rushed for time or just don’t want to work too hard. 🙂
