THRIVE Garden Fresh Salsa

Rather than buying a jar of salsa as we often do, we decided to try out the Thrive Garden Fresh Salsa that’s a part of the Thrive Life consultant starter pack…

I was excited to try it as I like a tasty salsa. 🙂 Opening the jar revealed a bit of a shock as I was starring at some very large tomato chunks…

No matter, they shrink quite a bit when rehydrated. Anyway, the directions are quite easy, just add 1 3/4 cups water to the contents of the can and let sit in the refrigerator for 2-3 hours before serving. Sadly, this salsa is NOT as fast as most other freeze dried foods.

A single pantry can of the Garden Fresh Salsa makes quite a bit. In fact, if you’re just making salsa for a few people then consider making half the can as we had quite a bit leftover. Here’s what it looks like when first mixed with water…

I should point out that I stirred quite thoroughly to make sure everything got rehydrated. And, yes, the above photo doesn’t look very appealing. Here’s what it looks like when done and with some chips…

As much as I would like to say the salsa was as tasty as the fudge brownies from last week, I can’t. The salsa wasn’t bad it just didn’t have much taste. Even my wife–who normally doesn’t like anything more than mild salsa–said something. Perhaps it needed a bit more the Chipotle seasoning. I don’t know.

Therefore, as a dipping salsa I wouldn’t recommend it. Perhaps as a topping or addition to some sort of Mexican dish (such as quesadillas) then it would be fine.

How much does the can make after rehydrating?

I think it looks like an excellent base, you can always add cilantro or other seasonings. In fact, it is likely made bland or neutral just for this reason! Appeals to a wider group. I bet it says Season to Taste somewhere on the label.

You need to readjust your spam filter, my middle paragraph was rejected and it is obviously a useful comment.

        LOL!

I may have linked back before, but it’s no big deal.
I hate the spammers too, we get them at a gun forum and on the weekend I spend a lot of time reporting them 😀
