Vehicle Survival Kit: What to Put Inside

Many preppers are good about keeping up with their at-home preps, and some really consider their EDC (everyday carry) gear, but it’s easy to ignore one of the most useful tools in your survival arsenal–your vehicles. There is, after all, often a lot of space not normally used, which means it’s great for survival supplies! Personally, I’ve kept our bug out bags in our vehicle, though these days I only keep my wife’s get home bag in her car; I then keep additional supplies in a tote bin for my son’s car, and I ask that my mother keep supplies in her vehicle.

Whether you keep supplies in the trunk of your car or the space under your seats, it’s wise to add at least a few items. Like what? Some shelf-stable food and bottles of water are great, as would be a first aid or trauma kit, but there’s plenty more to consider, some of which you’ll find discussed in the video below.

Perhaps equally important, is what about other passengers in your vehicle? You could have family, friends, children, or senior citizens with you when something happens; each of these groups of people could have very different needs. Granted, you probably shouldn’t attempt to prepare for every possibility, but you can do a lot more than you realize with a little forethought. At minimum, it’s wise to have extra supplies for other people, too. Here’s what to consider…
