How to Make Your Own Bulk Water Filter System

I’ll be honest, it’s DIY projects like this one that make me grateful somebody invested an easier solution, like the Berkey water filter system. But if you’re looking for a truly long-term, bulk water filter, consider a setup like this one which uses rocks, sand, and charcoal to filter almost any water source. According to the video, it takes relatively little maintenance and they only need to replace the charcoal every two or three years.

Something like this would be great for a homestead. And, although it’s expected to fine for human consumption, it could be a great backup option to a more commercial filter or, at the very least, useful for watering livestock or the garden or whatever other purpose you can find. Enjoy!
