DIY Solar Generator Build (Harbor Freight)

I’ve never been much of a fan of solar generators, mostly because they’re expensive for what you get in return when compared to DIY setups, I’m slowly changing my view. That said, it’s always nice to see a DIY build that reminds me that I’m right sometimes, too. 🙂

Now, this is a long video, and I don’t entirely agree with the way everything was done–an example would be using 2 gauge wire for a 600-watt inverter–but the video is rather detailed from start to finish. I also like how he was willing to adjust the placement of items as he went rather than getting it right from the start as most build videos do. (That’s more how I tend to do things.)

Perhaps the only preference I would’ve had was a list of the supplies he used and an overall cost of the project, but I’m willing to bet it’s substantially less expensive than purchasing a solar generator and panels off the shelf. So, if you’re looking for a fun holiday project, consider building your own solar generator while saving money for more enjoyable purchases, like rifles and chocolate…

Thanks for sharing this! Putting on a list of projects to work on since the Missus and I were talking about having something like that for events we sell at.

The solar panel box thingy is really cool. The guy who put the video together is hilarious and I enjoyed watching the whole thing. Gave me a bunch of good ideas. Thank you
