My Thoughts on Charlie Kirk and The UK Protests

Two thoughts about this past week…

Charlie Kirk

I’d imagine by now that you’ve heard Charlie Kirk was assassinated on 9/10. Although details are still to be sorted out, it seems that a lone gunman shot him from a nearby rooftop, allegedly over Charlie’s stance against the trans community.

Aside from the shocking nature of it all, I was surprised at how much this incident affected me personally even though I rarely watched Charlie Kirk’s debates. I’ve never met the man, am not a part of Turning Points, and probably disagree with some of his beliefs.

Still, I was very unhappy about it all until I realized why: it’s that they murdered (by all accounts) a good, decent young man who simply disagreed with leftist ideology and they couldn’t handle it. I’m nearly old enough that he could’ve been my kid (my eldest son is in his early twenties).

Charlie wasn’t afraid to speak his mind about anything, and brought well-reasoned arguments to the conversation. I don’t believe I ever heard him raise his voice or call people names. And I’ve even heard him concede points at times, something most people never do in a debate!

Ultimately, I’m afraid they killed a man who could be considered “the best of us” because he was willing to talk. They killed him because he said words people didn’t like. And that’s to say nothing of the many ways they took his words out of context and surely outright lied about him too in recent days.

What was shocking at the time, though it probably shouldn’t have been now that I’ve had more time to think about it, is that the conservative right is more upset than ever. It’s as if they killed a family member…and perhaps they did.

But I never saw this as a catalyst for a coming civil war or greater strife for one simple reason: the right doesn’t protest at the drop of a hat. If this were the other way around, we all know that the streets would be jam-packed with people up in arms. Politicians would seize the opportunity for more controls; thugs would loot; people would get hurt.

That said, I’m afraid a larger conflict is coming to the States, and possibly the collective West. It seems the Charlie Kirk assassination is a giant stepping stone to that unfortunate end.

The UK Protests

You may have also heard by now that a “Unite the Kingdom” rally was held in London over the weekend, brought together, in large part, by Tommy Robinson.

The gist of the protest is that the British people, what’s left of them, want their damn country back. They’re tired of illegal immigrants, don’t want to pay to support them any longer (if they ever did), are afraid for their children’s safety, and want the government to finally do something about it all whether they want to or not.

There were, by some accounts, hundreds of thousands of people in attendance, possibly more. I watched most of the broadcast online and was rather encouraged by the comments. As usual, however, the powers that shouldn’t be pushed out their usual talking points of “far-right-this” and “Nazi-that.” Apparently, hundreds of thousands of working men, women, and even children are all hate-mongers and racists, lol. What a shame.

Anyway, we’ll see how things play out in Britain over the coming months, but also in France and Germany and elsewhere because their native populations are similarly upset.

What might this look like in America? Could we see a Balkanization here? How much more violet might things get?

Why This Matters

From a prepping perspective, I’d say the answer is obvious: when things go “south” because the civil war has kicked off, you may find supplies in short supply, infrastructure inaccessible, and danger around every corner. At that point, you’re either prepared for it or you’re not.

From a personal perspective, my answer is different…

At some point during the marathon UK broadcast, my father-in-law told me it wasn’t healthy to watch all of this “negative” stuff online. I told him it “was a positive thing,” but otherwise brushed him off.

The thing is that he’s right.

Truth be told, I watch a lot of YouTube videos as I’m going about my day. Well, they’re really just background noise, but they’re often negative. The problem is that I feel like I need to keep abreast of what’s going on in the world in order to prepare for what’s coming.

But then I got to thinking, do I really need to keep up this much? Daily? Hourly? Of course not. So, I’m making a concerted effort to cut back.

After all, I don’t need to know that these things are going on to continue to prepare myself for the inevitable. I know what needs done. I just need more money, time, and effort to do it. 🙂

And I hope you take the time to cut back, enjoy the family, and do what needs done while there’s still time.

Read more of what he actually said.
He is not the role model people think.

    1. Don’t believe I ever said he was a role model, but I am saddened by people choosing to murder a man over words. At minimum, he was a family man, conservative, and Christian.
