Well, Now I REALLY Feel Like I Have Nothing…

A few weeks back I complained about travelling by airplane in this post titled I Always Feel Naked When I Travel by Airplane, How About You? because I despise all the restrictions they impose, but now I REALLY feel like I have nothing. Why, you ask? Because I literally have all of my worldly possessions and, most importantly, all of my beloved preps shoved into a storage pod that’s now on it’s way to Washington state!

Although we packed last weekend in single digit temperatures no less, it didn’t hit me until recently that all of my stuff is gone… and now I’m feeling super vulnerable. But, alas, not all is lost. I do have my car kit preps which amounts to a bug out bag, sleeping bag, and several things meant for a car (e.g., a car jack, engine oil, fix a flat, etc) but it still feels weird not having my stuff around, including my water barrels, firearms, and more. 🙁

But my predicament isn’t nearly as bad as some preppers. A month back I mentioned that The Orange Jeep Dad had truly lost all of his possessions–including the orange jeep–in a house fire, so, I guess I shouldn’t complain so much.

Fortunately, we have family that are relatively well prepared so we’re not totally screwed if something were to happen before we got on the road… speaking of which, the nearly 2000 mile drive from Missouri to Washington state in the middle of a nasty winter is going to be loads of fun that I’m not looking forward to whatsoever, but that’s a complaint for another day. 😉

…and now we spend the next few weeks living out of suitcases. Ugh!

  1. Welcome to the NorthWest. I hope you have a safe trip. Trace from TraceMyPreps.com also lives in Washington.

Safe trip to Washington glad you’ll be prepared for any unexpected events a long the way.

  3. I know how it feels not having your stuffs around you. I also feel vulnerable when I don’t have my stuffs with me. When we moved last year, I try to at least leave with me some of the basic stuffs that I might need.

When I moved from Maine to Florida, I shipped most everything, but I kept out my firearms, ammo and all of my camping gear. I was not about to either sit in Maine, Florida or be stranded along the road with no supplies. I rented a small U-Haul trailer to pull behind our van and felt fairly prepared for anything that may happen.
