Shutdown Avoided, But Does it Even Matter Anymore?

I’d bet that if we ever met, Southernprepper1 and I would get along fairly well. He appears to be a good, moral man who tries his best to help people prepare while clearly being concerned with the direction of the country. Lately, he’s been discussing money; here’s his latest on the government shutdown, which I encourage you to take a few minutes to watch:

Assuming you watched the video above, he mentions how our national debt increases by three billion dollars each day right now; put another way, that’s well over $100,000,000 every hour. And then somehow, we blew another 25 billion in a day. That’s just insane. I have no idea how our elected representatives can, in good conscious, continue to act as if all is well.

I’m convinced that this monetary charade cannot continue forever. But, if I’m being perfectly honest, it’s continued for much longer than I figured it would. Granted, I know the monetary system is quite complex, with plenty of ways in which the powers-that-shouldn’t-be can continue to kick the can down the road, but it has to end at some point. Right?

When is the question. Will it be when BRICS has finally usurped the USD? Will it be when Moody’s downgrades our government to unheard of depths? Or, maybe our financial collapse will finally happen when we have so many foreigners–those who only take and not give–sucking unending resources from the system that it simply cannot stay afloat no matter how much fiat money we print?

I really don’t know. Nevertheless, I continue to have this uneasy feeling in the pit my stomach as if bad things are just over the horizon.

And this is one area in life that I absolutely don’t want to be right about because it means very hard times for most of us, even for those who choose to prepare themselves now, like you and I. Because I believe that, if I am right, it will surely mean some form of civil war or, at least, significant domestic strife, but it could also mean a larger war, especially with China. Although I’m aging out of initially being drafted, my boys aren’t…and I have no interest in them fighting for the elitists who will cling to power.

Sadly, we are headed for a fight at some point. All I can say is, like Southerprepper1, do something to prepare yourself each day. If that means planting a few seeds, then do it. If it means buying silver or gold, then do that. Perhaps it means checking on your stockpiles to ensure they’re still good and filled. Or, maybe it means forming your own prepper group.

Although I have my own ideas of what’s important, the MOST important thing is to continue to act as if we do have a future. Because when good men and women give up hope, when they give up their faith in a better world, the darkness engulfs us all.

Be the light today.

Shine bright in your own family, among your friends, and in your community.

Others will follow. I promise.
