Use Mason Jars Instead of Tupperware and Ziplocs

Seeing as though I have plenty of mason jars there’s no reason for me not to try and use them more and more instead of tupperware or Ziploc bags for leftovers. I can see this being useful for most of our leftovers but not very feasible for some foods like our homemade bread. All in all, however, it’s an idea worth implementing…

Hey thanks for the tips! I’ve been using my canning jars for years for multi-purposes.
The mini door/window alarms is a great idea. I forwarded that info to our daughter who has twin 2 1/2 year old boys so she would be alerted if they exited their home. She loved the idea!

    1. Seems silly that I never realized I could use canning jars in place of tupperware… now it’s just a matter of doing so.

As for the alarms, that’s another good use for them! Hope they keep the kids from wandering off. She might also look into a basic door security latch like this one: http://www.amazon.com/National-Hardware-Security-Guard-Nickel/dp/B001RUEWUQ/ but can also find at the local hardware store.

This would certainly keep the kids from opening the door to get out and beef up door security a bit. Of course, they’re also a potential fire hazard for small kids who cannot reach the latch so keep that in mind.
