2 DIY Off-Grid DIY Bucket Washing Machine Builds

There are two videos below: one on how to build a bucket washer and a more involved DIY approach.

I’ve built a few versions of the bucket washer in the past, which mixed results. They work well enough for casual washing needs, but if you have to get real grit and grime out, then you’ll probably need a washboard for clothes. And while I’d bought a manual clothes washer plunger, I like that he drilled holes in a normal plunger, which surely saved a few bucks. My only concern is that the “spin” cycles leaves much to be desired. FYI, they actually make hand powered clothes wringers, if interested. Regardless, it’s a good start.

The second video transforms a barrel, some PVC, and wood into another idea that basically mimics a WonderWash portable washing machine, which is better for more aggressive washing needs. Enjoy!
