Grid Failure Timeline Breakdown

I’d say that most people, even preppers, believe that “the grid” refers only to electrical power, but it should be considered much more than that. In fact, you should consider “the grid” to encompass all utilities, such as natural gas, water, cellular service…even the sewer system and trash pickup.

The following video by City Prepping is a good breakdown of not only what might happen during a total grid collapse, but the timing of how it might happen. Why is this important? Because it helps you to priorities needs. That is, when you understand that water–even if it’s still flowing from the tap–should be considered suspect within even a few hours of a major problem, then you won’t be wasting time with your neighbors grilling steaks because you’re afraid they’re going to go bad soon.

Although most of us preppers should know such things, the video also discusses just how interconnected our utilities are, especially how everything else is horribly reliant on electricity, including natural gas and water.

Enjoy, and take heed…
